ABOUT US

Joy To The Child, Inc. was founded in 2006 for the purpose of bringing joy to the lives of children in need.  The corporation established the Aircraft Build Program under the Alternate Name of Teen Aviation of New Jersey at the Flying W Airport in the fall of 2021.  After several months of hangar renovation and program preparation, Teen Aviation of New Jersey interviewed and enrolled our first group of students in the spring of 2022 and held our first student build session on July 9, 2022.

Joy To The Child, Inc. is a New Jersey registered non-profit charitable organization and is listed with the Internal Revenue Service under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.  The corporation registered the Alternate Name, Teen Aviation of New Jersey, with the state in November 2021.

The Aircraft Build Program is an activity for students who have an interest in aviation. The program is funded entirely by charitable donations, and participation in the program is at no cost to the students or their families. All program staff and mentors are volunteers, and all donations to the program go directly to the cost of the aircraft builds, student activities, overhead, and administrative expenses.

The purpose of the Aircraft Build Program is to encourage high school students to gain greater knowledge in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), and aviation-related career fields.  The objective of the program is to introduce our students to career possibilities in a variety of STEM and aviation-related fields they may not be aware of, or that may seem beyond their reach. Our target demographic is high school students in need ages 13 through 18 who would benefit from participating in the program, however, we will accept any student into the program who has a sincere interest in aviation.

The program is centered around the students building an actual, flying two seat experimental aircraft under the supervision and mentoring of our program mentors, with the basic philosophy being mentors teach, students build. Build sessions are limited to 12 students, and are conducted weekly at the Flying W Airport in Medford, New Jersey. The program is designed to be an ongoing activity, with the construction of each aircraft taking a year or longer to complete. After an aircraft is completed, it is sold to provide funds for a subsequent aircraft build, allowing the program to continue year after year. In addition to the aircraft builds, the program also includes guest speakers from various Science-Technology-Engineering-Math and aviation-related career fields.

Please help support the Teen Aviation of New Jersey Aircraft Build Program. Your donations are tax deductable.
